Ajrakh is a centuries-old block-printing tradition from Kutch, Gujarat. The complex process involves multiple stages of natural dyeing and printing with hand-carved wooden blocks, resulting in the deep indigo, madder red, and earthy tones that define the Ajrakh palette. Each piece carries the fingerprint of its maker.
The Ajrakh running through this piece is a weave pattern of remarkable intricacy — a design that requires exceptional skill to execute and creates a visual effect that is entirely distinctive.
Zardozi — the imperial embroidery of Mughal courts — is worked entirely by hand using heavy gold and silver threads, metal sequins, and precious stones. A single Zardozi piece can take weeks to complete, each motif built up in layers of metalwork that creates a raised, three-dimensional effect of extraordinary richness.
